I am one of the biggest “dorky-fan-boys” I know. Needless to say, when I got a text from Lou Barlow last week asking for permission to use some photos I shot of a recording session back in 2013, I was blown away. I love all Lou’s music, but I have to be honest and say that Dinosaur Jr is where my heart lies … I still claim “In A Jar” and “Freak Scene” as two of my favorite songs in the world. In fact, the verse in Freak Scene: “Sometimes I don’t thrill you, Sometimes I think I’ll kill you, But don’t let me fuck up will you, cause when I need a friend it’s still you” still can bring me to tears. Lou played on that shit! Damn … You guys would have been proud of me though, I didn’t totally dork out on him, nor did I dork out too hard when Murph showed up. But, I’m a dork, I was just able to maintain.

So, the recording session I photographed was for a benefit 7″. It was recorded over a weekend at Studio 606 and included Lou, Dale Murphy, Imaad Wasif and Nate Mendel. I think the 7″ has actually been manufactured, but I don’t know that it’s been released yet. Lou’s text to me asked if he could use some photos from the recording session to sync to the music and make a video for one of the songs … Here it is:
